Summary: In 2014-15 the District awarded the food service management contract to Sodexo. This contract included an annual renewal or extension option for each of the next 4 years. This process was reviewed by the California Department of Education to ensure compliance with State and Federal guidelines. No issues were noted. The District exercised it's option to extend the contract for 2015-16, 2016-17, and the 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20 school years. Today, we present an amendment to the contract to extend the Sodexo Food Service Management Contract for the 2021-22 school year. This contract is based on a fixed cost per meal type served. Cost ranges from $1.25 for breakfast to $2.00 for Lunch. This contract extension guarantees the sale of a total of 116,200 meals. If less meals are sold Sodexo will cut a check to the District. If more are sold, the District will pay Sodexo based on the fixed cost per meal type.
Funding:
Recommendation: That the Board shall award the Food Service Management Contract Extension with Sodexo to provide food service management and consulting services for the 2021-22 school year. Approval will ensure proper management of our food service program that offers healthy meals to over 3,300 students enrolled within the District.

If approved, Staff will submit approved and signed documents to the California Department of Education for their review and final approval process.
